Split Grade Printing – ILFORD Darkroom Guides
Welcome to the 5th video in ILFORD series of ‘how to’ darkroom guides which we have created to help you to take the next steps in your black and white darkroom printing journey.
Split Grade Printing is a technique that uses more than one Multigrade filter grade to create your final darkroom print. As using different filters grades impacts the contrast of your final print, combining the use of two filters in a single print is a great way of bringing out the best from your black and white negative.
We invited Rachel Brewster-Wright from Little Vintage Photography, a film photographer, educator and host of the Sunny16 podcast, to show you the technique that she uses to produce split grade darkroom prints.
